Summary

The Development History module is intended to show how industrial development can be accompanied by social change. It is therefore a question of questioning the link between technological progress and societal developments. A historical approach is of course favoured with a panorama of science and technology from the Renaissance to the contemporary era. Particular attention will be paid to the central role played by the figure of the engineer.

Educational goals

At the end of the course, the student will be able to - Manage structures in their different dimensions (technological, human, commercial, financial) Contribution of the course to the competency framework (see RNCP sheet); at the end of the course, the student will have progressed in: - The ability to define characteristics of an organization's national and international development by analyzing a market, customer needs, competition through statistical tools and strategic and commercial intelligence.

Summary

The objective is to acquire a systematic analysis method allowing dynamic modeling of electrical systems. These equations are useful for the design and dimensioning of electromechanical systems as well as for the establishment of control laws when these systems are automated. Students will be introduced to the structuring of the analysis process of an electrical system, to the organization of reflection in the face of a modeling or control problem and to the careful use of technical vocabulary The informational causality graph will used to obtain a graphical description of the mathematical relationships of cause and effect. The passage from this description to a state representation or by block diagram is an additional know-how which will be acquired. Practical implementations will be carried out under the Matlab-Simulink simulation software. Field of application: electric actuators, automated systems, electric vehicle, ...

Educational goals

At the end of the course, the student will be able to: ᅵ Master the concepts of causality, energies and the specificities of electrical systems ᅵ Describe and model by mathematical equations using a Causal Informational Graph an electrical system ᅵ Design the structure of causal inversion control devices Contribution of the module to the skills framework (see RNCP file); at the end of the course, the student will have progressed in: - Systemic analysis: concerning electromechanical and industrial systems using energy-based energy conversion processes - Design and know-how yourself: a mathematical representation of an industrial process in the form of a model - Identify understand: analyze the context, be able to solve a problem or use an electric model. - Realization / realization: ᅵUse of knowledge in practical work, Validation by carrying out a digital simulation of a process - His Spirit of initiative - Its ability to seek and find information - His ability to define his own path and organize his reflection to analyze and solve a problem - Design Know-how yourself a mathematical model - Ability to give meaning to physical relationships of cause and effect, to the principle of action ᅵ reaction

Summary

The Materials Science module familiarises students with the major families of materials (metals, ceramics and polymers) and helps them understand important criteria to be taken into account when choosing materials. The different classes of materials are defined based on the structure of the material as well as their properties and behaviours. The mechanical, electrical, thermal and chemical behaviours of solids are studied within each class of materials through measurements using the database. Based on the behavioural study and property measurements, students are able to identify a material. The large families of industrial materials are covered to allow students to choose a simple material for a defined application. The steps studied range from raw materials, production, use until the end of the material's life and recycling.

Educational goals

- The different material classes: o Knowledge of the different material classes by referring to their structure, o Knowledge and measurement of the mechanical, electrical, thermal and chemical properties as well as knowledge of the economic and ecological characteristics of each of the classes, - Metallic materials: Phases and phase equilibriums ᅵ application to steels o Phase diagrams, o Formation of the microstructure during solidification and observation of the microstructure, o Awareness of the correspondence between microstructure and mechanical properties. - Heat treatments of steels: o Kinetic laws of growth and formation, o Isothermal and continuous cooling TTT kinetic diagrams, o Implementation of heat treatments and characterisation: tensile, hardness and impact tests.

Summary

This course allows students to learn the basic strength of materials concepts and apply them to the analysis and study of simple mechanical systems. They will be able to calculate the dimensions of beams subject to simple and combined loadings. The theoretical portion of the course will be reduced as much as possible to leave plenty of time for applications. Students will first look at the strength of materials hypotheses, then the definition and determination of internal forces via the cohesion torsor. They will then examine the different simple loadings (tension-compression, shear force, torsion and simple flat bending), and finish with combined loadings.

Students will first look at the strength of materials hypotheses, then the definition and determination of internal forces via the cohesion torsor. They will then examine the different simple loadings, and finish with combined loadings. At the end of this course, students will be able to: Model a simple mechanical system (beam modelling). Calculate the internal forces in each section of the beam and draw the corresponding loading diagrams. Calculate the movements and stresses for each of the simple loadings (tension/compression, shear force, torsion and simple flat bending). Calculate the dimensions of the beams under stress or being moved. Know the classic moments of inertia (rectangle and disk) Know how to calculate an equivalent stress according to Von Mises and Tresca in the case of combined loadings (normal + tangential stresses).
