Summary

The beginning of the twentieth century has been marked by a succession of scientific discoveries hat deeply modified our vision of the Universe: Special relativity and quantum physics. Special relativity, which postulates that time is relative, would put an end to the debates on the existence of the ether, et would prove that Newtonian mechanics only had a limited framework. On the other hand, quantum mechanics is the domain pf physics dealing with the study and description of fundamental phenomena in physical systems at the atomic and subatomic scales. The lecture gives an introduction to these theories and to statistical physics. Statistical physics aims at explaining the behavior and evolution of physical systems comprising a large number of particles, based on the properties of their individual microscopic components. this macroscopic description has been partly obtained before the development of modern physics, essentially in the second half of the nineteenth century. These theories are fundamental for the understanding of numerous physical phenomena, but also for the design of innovative devices and systems using these phenomena. In this context, this course aims at providing the theoretical bases of the different themes as well as the physical and mathematical concepts and tools needed for the proper understanding . Summary

This course introduces the main notions underlying any signal processing application. After introducing the different class of signals and the associated concepts (auto / cross-correlation, spectral density), the course will focus on the notion of spectral representation based on the Fourier transform, at the core of signal processing. In particular, an introduction to linear time-invariant filtering will motivate the use of spectral representations to easily alter / recover specific features of a signal (harmonic equalization, ...). Finally, an introduction to sampling theory will provide key notions to understand the principles at the basis of analog-to-digital conversion, which is a necessary step to acquire measures and numerically analyze the content of any signal. Most of these notions will be numerically illustrated on audio signals and images during the practical sessions.

Educational goals

By the end of the course, students will be able to: - identify the class a signal and understand the objects associated to this clase (auto/cross-correlation, spectral density); - perform an elementary spectral analysis of a signal; - use a consistent representation of a signal in both the temporal and the frequency domains; - understand and leverage the properties of linear time-invariant filters to recover specific features of an input signal; - acquire good practices to acquire measurements of a signal (sampling frequency, anti-aliasing filter).

Upon their arrival at the school, the engineering students take an online language test to divide them into level groups. Subsequently, 2nd foreign language teaching comprises face-to-face teaching as well as out-of-class access to the platform offered by goFLUENT. Summary

Upon their arrival at the school, the engineering students take an online language test to divide them into level groups. In the case of International students, who are automatically enrolled in French as a foreign language, they receive, from the very first session, a training program in FLE adapted to their language level and based on interaction and communication in French cultural and professional contexts established by the teacher. Subsequently, 2nd foreign language teaching comprises face-to-face teaching as well as out-of-class access to the platform offered by goFLUENT. This in-class / out-of-class pedagogy aims at getting them to be more comfortable communicating in their 2nd foreign language at the level of the 5 competencies highlighted by the Common European Framework Reference for Languages: - Oral and written comprehension - Oral and written expression - Oral interaction (taking part in a conversation)

At the end of the semester, students will be able to: - Understand and produce written or oral documents dealing with aspects of the academic environment and the company - Talk about themselves, their personal and academic path, and their professional experience - Project themselves into a labour market and understand the cultural codes and issues of the respective countries - Describe, analyse and comment on a current event in society, and lead various debates and exchanges Specific contribution of the course to a competency framework: at the end of the course, the students will have progressed in taking into account the international dimension through their ability to communicate in a foreign language (3.7), and in international management and responsible, by their ability to convince and account (4.3), to take into account the cultural specificities of the partners (3.8). In parallel, classroom-based courses encourages oral and written production above all, and focusses on notions not acquired in autonomous learning. The 2 approaches are thus complementary. A deepening of language skills and performance is often (but not always) acquired by "immersions" of varying lengths, in the context of the target language. Summary

The development of Fablab-type "Open Source" communities is expanding rapidly. The multiplication of 3D printer-type means leads to an ever-increasing consumption of ABS and PLA. A question then arises for this community: what to do with waste and is it possible to valorize this material? 4 teams of 16 students will be assigned the task of designing a system to generate new raw material for these printers from the waste they produce. These teams will be in competition and will each have to develop their own prototype, the best can then be made available to the Open Science community! Pedagogy

Teaching organized around a project to design and manufacture a real functional prototype. The economic dimension will be present throughout the study to allow students to study concepts essential to the engineer's work. The 64 students will be divided into 4 homogeneous groups in terms of origin, nationality and skills. The first two weeks of teaching will constitute a common core of knowledge that all students will need to have in order to have sufficient perspective to understand the full complexity of the study. At the end of these first two weeks, they should be able to divide themselves, for each group of prototypes, into 4 distinct areas of competence. The following three weeks will allow each cluster to acquire the basic knowledge and develop the skills necessary to manufacture the prototype. The last week will see the prototype teams achieve their objective. Each week will be the subject of an assessment by prototype group of the progress and a tutor will allow to reframe if necessary.
