Summary

A team of a dozen students and several teachers in various fields is made up of in order to carry out a technological project for an external client with whom it has direct exchanges and regular. Some topics can be proposed directly by a team of 6 to 8 students (after brainstorming). Project management is carried out in an adaptive mode, using the methods and tools just necessary for a effective implementation. Three main phases are proposed, which must be adapted to the nature of the subject: 1. Semester 5: build a "monster" in "quick and dirty" mode before the start of the internship 2. Semester 6: Finalize the design and place orders for equipment 3. Semester 7: Deliver a quality product Particular attention is paid to the appropriation and shared understanding of the need (regardless of the solutions) and the definition of the "contract" between the client and the team defining the criteria for the admissibility of the solution.

Educational goals

At the end of the course, the student will be able to: - Understand all the dimensions of a complex project - Understand a need, reformulate it, analyze it (SysML) and frame it - Find relevant information useful for understanding the subject and its treatment - Search for innovative solutions, classify them according to criteria and select one - Implement a trial and error approach in the rapid development of a first prototype - Acquire the knowledge and know-how necessary for the design and implementation of the product/service - Designing a product/service - Create a product/service - Deliver the project and train future users Contribution of the course to the competency framework; at the end of the course, the student will have progressed in: - Imagining innovative solutions, designing and implementing a solution (1.1 to 1.3, 1.6, 1.8, 1.9) - Apprehension of complex problems (2.1, 2.3 to 2.5, 2.7) - Contribution to the organization and implementation of a project (3.1 to 3.6, 3.9, 3.10) - Integration into a team, people management (4.1 to 4.4)

Pedagogy

The team consists of students and teachers. The mission of the team's teaching members is to - Consult each other - Launch the project - Help students and the team as a whole to organize themselves and adopt collaborative communication tools, to ensure the regularity of exchanges - Lead them to develop and apply an approach that includes (possibly iteratively in the case of an agile development): o The formalization of the need o The negotiation of the "contract" is a criterion of acceptability o The search for open solutions in relation to those proposed a priori by the client o Product/service design o Its realization - Validate, in agreement with the client, the main orientations of the project by ensuring that the objectives are met educational - Provide students with the necessary training to carry out the project - Support, value and help students to make the project a success The students' mission is: - To carry out the project successfully - To organize themselves, with the help of the teaching members - To keep the teaching members systematically informed in real time of the progress of the project - To solicit teachers - Team autonomy does not mean independence from supervising members)
