Summary
Analyze and reproduce the results reported in a state of the art scientific image processing article. This short project offers the opportunity to practice a complete analysis of a scientific article under stringent time constraints. Keywords: scientific article analysis, bibliographical methodology, programming.
Educational goals
By the end of the course, the students will be able to: - understand and engage in the scientific approach described in a scientific image processing article under stringent time constraints; - reproduce the main results reported in the article through a functional proof of concept algorithm; - synthesize the results in a clear and concise manner through a report and short oral defense; - organize the work within a small research team.
Sustainable development goals
Knowledge control procedures
Continuous Assessment
Comments: Evaluation is conducted based on a report written by each group (between 10 and 15 pages including references), on the quality of the codes produced for the numerical illustration (documentation, comments, use of standard programming conventions) and an oral defense (10 min + 5 min of questions).
Online resources
Research articles from the image processing/machine learning literature.
Pedagogy
Course organized as a short project, in groups composed of maximum 4 students. The work consists in producing a short report synthesizing the content of a research article, with codes reproducing all or part of the associated numerical illustrations. The outcome of the project will be introduced to the whole class during a final oral defense. Most of the work will be carried out during the in-class sessions. Language of instruction: French.
