Summary

The module "From product analysis to responsible redesign" will allow students to apprehend a system and connect knowledge acquired in a dissociated way in previous years but also to go further in their knowledge and methodology. Considering an existing system, they will have to analyze the choices that have been made in terms of materials, design, manufacturing, assembly, surface treatment ... by first carrying out a functional analysis and then a product analysis. They will also be interested in the choices made according to the use (design, ergonomics ...) and the environment (ecodesign, life cycle analysis, recycling, raw material ...). They will have to propose alternatives to the existing one.

Educational goals

Perform a functional analysis on a complex system ᅵ Identify on an element of a complex system the choices that have been made in terms of materials, manufacturing processes, assembly, surface treatment ... relying on bibliographic research, ᅵ Implement analysis and characterization techniques for the identification of materials, acquire knowledge in terms of properties, implementation, recyclability, source of material ... relying on the application of software of choice of materials (CES) and eco-design (Simapro) ᅵ Propose a redesign of the product in the light of environmental constraints
