Summary

In this course, students must numerically solve concrete problems borrowed from the fields of thermodynamics (construction of phase equilibrium diagrams) and chemical kinetics using Excel and Python. The use of these tools in this course is intended to enable students to improve their mastery of them.

Educational goals

At the end of this course, the student must be able to implement a rigorous working method to model and simulate a chemical phenomenon and including the following steps: 1/ Understand the underlying theory of the problem, equate it by specifying the hypotheses made to establish the equations used (modeling stage) 2/ Establish a calculation algorithm to solve these equations 3/ Write a program in Python or a spreadsheet in Excel to simulate the phenomenon

Sustainable development goals

Knowledge control procedures

Continuous Assessment
Comments: Final written exam (duration: 1h45)

Online resources

Statement presenting the problem to be solved with possibly a reminder of the theory associated with it

Pedagogy

This course takes place only in the form of tutorials on a computer station with the implementation of a quiz.
