Summary
We will evaluate the exploitation of resources by human activities, with a focus on civil engineering materials : energy resources, metals, concrete, wood, glassᅵ Notions of recycling, circular economy will be discussed, along with the difficulties and contradictions that arise from them.
Educational goals
Be aware of : - Resources are available on a limited amount, the first limitation being energy consumption, - Shifting to a genuine circular economy is a necessary, but unreachable, goal. Understanding the following notions : - Reserve, resource, EROI - Dispersion, downcycling, duration of stay in the economy.
