Summary
When studying several themes related to the business world and the areas of activity likely to be those of future chemical engineers, students will continue to develop their language and personal skills (know-how and soft skills) in order to be a good communicator and easily integrate into an international study or a professional environment.
Educational goals
The teaching methods in the second year of the engineering programme maintain the objectives set in the first year. The aim is therefore to build on language skills (oral and written comprehension, oral and written production, oral interaction) to enable students to gain autonomy and experience regarding the use of language in companies in France and abroad. Various intellectual approaches are encouraged: arguing, asserting one's point of view, summarising, developing, criticising, etc. The emphasis is also placed on mastering the soft skills specific to job interviews. An important part of the work also aims to train students to successfully pass the TOEIC with the best possible score.

Pedagogy
Students are grouped by level. Class activities are carried out based on the principle of collaboration, either in pairs or in groups. The teaching method is action-based: pairs or groups are assigned simple tasks, then more elaborate tasks and a final task at the end. The emphasis is on spoken English: interactions within the pair or the group of students, speaking to an audience (presentation), understanding videos or recordings, reports and analyses of various written documents from the press, and debates. The themes covered are directly related to the students' future professional environments: food, health, money and business, job interviews. Preparing for the TOEIC requires regular work in class, in the form of practice exams, and at home. It is an opportunity to improve students' English grammar and to broaden their vocabulary specific to the exam, i.e. business and corporate life in the English-speaking world.
