Summary
The first objective of this module is to enable students to understand the fundamentals and renewals of architectural design and civil construction in the context of sustainable development. Training in design tools and approaches will be combined with training in building project engineering that involves numerous and often heterogeneous partners in their way of thinking, objectives and interests (architects, design and consulting firms, construction companies, material suppliers and distributors, project owners, public actors, social actors, etc.). Beyond the architectural design itself, it will therefore be a question of accessing the engineering forms specific to the building sector and the challenges of sustainable construction. More broadly, this module will also allow students to learn about various aspects of industrial engineering: product and system design, interoperability between project stakeholders, the place and role of the customer, etc. The second objective of this module is to prepare directly for the double degree course "engineer-architect" built in the TIME network with the Polytechnic Faculty of Mons (Belgium) and the Politecnico di Milano (Italy) whose European recognition of the title of engineer architect (and free professional installation) requires that four years of study be explicitly related to architecture. This module is therefore compulsory for students wishing to access this double-degree program, in conjunction with modules for further study of physical sciences for engineers related to the field of construction and possible other transversal modules. The contents will be organized around four main axes: - Design, construction and architectural engineering (including eco-design, HQE, home automation and energy approaches to buildings) - Plastic expression and graphic representation of the design (sketch and advanced phase) Architecture project (and integrated project exercises).
Educational goals
At the end of the course, the student will be able to: - Understand the issues of construction, urban planning and architectural engineering (including eco-design, HEQ, home automation and energy approaches to buildings), in the context of sustainable development - Implement and express plastically and graphically a realistic architectural concept that takes into account structural, technical, economic, societal and sustainable constraints - Carry out an architectural project and project exercises individually and in groups (pairs or trinomials), i.e. freely or following negotiation with peers Contribution of the course to the competency framework; at the end of the course, the student will have progressed in: - C1 - Emerging: Understanding many dimensions of an architectural project - C2 - Represent and model: Model and prototype an architectural project - C2 - Resolve and arbitrate: Defend your architectural project before a jury of specialists from various fields - C4 - Leading transformations in your organization: Identifies the urban planning problems related to the project

Pedagogy
This teaching will be built around a "common thread" case study which consists of an architectural project spread over a large part of the duration of the module. Thus, the module uses the concepts of sustainable development applied to the building and its architecture, through the realization of a simple architectural project, including the realization of individual and group 3D models. The architectural project concerns sustainable and sustainable housing, modular, dismountable and lightweight, to create an exhibition pavilion (individual short project) then offices with co-working, or a flower market, or a covered market, as part of the long team project.
