Summary
The aim of this module is to present fluid mechanics within the framework of projects, after having defined basic concepts. The basic definitions and means for measuring the most frequently used physical quantities will be presented: pressure, flow rate, instantaneous speed, and average speed. The equations of fluid statics and dynamics (generalised Bernoulli) will be written, and industrial examples will be given (or used during student projects).
Educational goals
At the end of the course, students will know the following: - Physical quantities used in fluid mechanics. - Means of measurement used in fluid mechanics. - Bernoulli's theorem (generalised) -Machine concepts (pumps and turbines)
